One of the most researched ingredients for use in animal diets, BeneCellTM is well-documented for its overall support. BeneCellTM is a proprietary blend of purified nucleotides and other essential nutrients. Nucleotides play a critical role in the body by accelerating the cell proliferation process (cell regeneration). Cell regeneration allows an animal to recover much quicker from any type of stress it is under (performance, illness, disease, injury, etc.).
BeneCellTM ‘s huge success is due to the fact that the added nucleotides facilitate an accelerated immune response within an organism. An immune response is simply the ability of an animal to mount a strong defense against invading micro-organisms by producing immunoglobulin’s (antibodies). Considering that 70% of an animal's immune system is in its GI tract, the immune system itself is directly affected by the health of the digestive system.
The ability of BeneCellTM to provide a healthy digestive system is well-documented in clinical and case studies. These studies have shown that BeneCellTM positively affects:
BeneCellTM is used worldwide in human nutrition to support immunity and athletic performance. The pure nucleotides in BeneCellTM are also used in companion animals, bovine, swine, aquaculture, and avian diets for its powerful results. We are confident that your horse will experience similar results while using ForeBasics+ from ForeFront Equine.
Colostrum is one of the core ingredients in nearly all ForeFront Equine products. It is an all-natural, multi-purpose nutritional ingredient that offers a healthy boost to an animal’s overall health. With over 70 Growth Factors and over 80 Immune Factors including Transfer Factor this whole food is a powerhouse of cellular, tissue, GI tract, and immune support.
ForeFront Equine’s nutritional team hand selects every ingredient in our products in order to offer tremendous value and we are especially proud of the colostrum included in our line. It comes from a proprietary treatment process that is recognized and approved by federal authorities and international product safety organizations. Gentle thermal processing techniques provide assurance against microbial contamination, while protecting superior immunoglobulin content, specific antibodies, growth factors, and other valuable components found within colostrum.
Here are a few ways that colostrum can greatly benefit your horse:
Digestive Support - As nature’s first food, colostrum supplies immune and growth factors along with a perfect combination of vitamins and minerals to support overall health. The equine digestive system is largely responsible for good health and, unfortunately, poor health as well. Stress, diet, NSAID, and antibiotic use can have tremendous negative consequences for your horse’s digestion.
Digestive integrity is key to a horse’s health in many ways, as it is the foundation of immunity. Studies have shown that colostrum is a powerful aid for supporting your horse’s healthy digestive tract and immune system. Studies have also shown that it can even help to repair the lining of the GI tract. One study published in The Veterinary Journal (July 2012) indicated that colostrum contains a broad array of oligosaccharides vital to the digestive health of newborn foals.
Joint Support - Colostrum is best known for its digestive properties, but it also has tremendous value for joint support. It is the only natural source of insulin-like growth factor, which is responsible for increasing cartilage and collagen production. This helps cushion joints, which enables freer, unrestricted movement.
Not Just for Foals – The most common and known use of colostrum is in foal diets. This is certainly a tremendous, and sometimes, needed application. Foals that do not receive adequate colostrum suffer from a syndrome called failure of passive transfer (FPT), which is estimated to affect up to 25 percent of newborn foals and predisposes them to life-threatening diseases. Because of the obvious importance of colostrum to the newborn foal, many broodmare farms and veterinary clinics maintain stores of frozen colostrum to be used in an emergency.
Although colostrum is seen as an immediate need for foals that shouldn’t stop horse owners from continually providing colostrum to their horses. Colostrum's bioactive agents can boost overall immune function, promote intestinal healing and help prevent immune system hyperactivity in horses of all ages.
Research indicates that colostrum may help:
PubMed, which is a search engine accessing primarily the MEDLINE database of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics, currently lists 2,945 studies with bovine colostrum. This clearly demonstrates its proven benefits and interest among the scientific community in the use of colostrum.
Probiotic/Prebiotic Equine Blend –The performance and health of your horse is dependent upon the proper balance of digestive tract bacteria. Probiotics play a critical role in your horse’s diet by helping to ensure a healthy digestive tract, enhancing the immune system and defending against pathogenic agents in the digestive tract. ForeFront Equine is the first equine company to use this unique Equine Specific Probiotic Blend.
Why are probiotics essential and, more importantly, why equine specific probiotics?
The intestinal tract encompasses one of the most diverse microbial settings ever discovered. Dependent on the life style and/or types of nutrition, the digestive tract could be subjected to some minor, or major, alterations with possible vulnerability to disease. Thus, any disruption in the inherent nature of the GIT environment can inadvertently have unfavorable and irreparable, even tragic, consequences. Today, “good” bacteria known as probiotics are used to maintain the microbial balance of the GIT ecosystem.
Experts agree that persistent viability of probiotics within the GIT is crucial to overall health, and the important factor here is that the “good” bacteria used in supplementation must be specific to the species. In animal supplements, the probiotic strains typically used are either human or bovine derived. These are considered non-indigenous (foreign) as they are extracted from a non-species source.
Indigenous probiotic bacteria can tolerate the harsh conditions of the GIT (Iyer et al., 2005), while non-indigenous bacteria are unable to endure such harsh conditions. The introduction of non-indigenous probiotics into the intestine can lead to some alterations in the microorganism environment resulting in the emergence of metabolic syndrome, autoimmune diseases, and other disorders in a short- or long-term period (Barzegari, 2014).
For this reason, ForeFront Equine is using a novel probiotic blend that includes two equine specific probiotic strains - Lactobacillus fermentum and Lactobacillus salivarius. These indigenous strains were cultured directly from horses (in a non-harmful manner). Since they are host specific they can withstand the rigors of the equine digestive tract. Each digestive tract (human or animal) has a different pH, temperature, and ecosystem. Supplementing your horses’ diet with a host specific strain greatly increases the likelihood of those strains surviving in your equine athlete’s complex digestive ecosystem.
